(Jakarta, 20/1/16) World Documentary Awards ( WDA) akhirnya
mengumumkan Film Terbaiknya di Auditorium Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI)
pada hari Senin lalu bertepatan dengan Hari Martin Luther King Jr.
World Documentary Awards (WDA) adalah sebuah festival berskala
international yang berfokus untuk film-film dokumenter terbaik dari
seluruh dunia. Adalah film The Last Tear karya sutradara Hollywood
Christopher H.K. Lee yang akhirnya meraih predikat Film Terbaik
diajang kompetisi ini. Film dokumenter panjang ini menceritakan
tentang kekerasan seksual kepada wanita yang korbannya tak berani
untuk membuka mulut. Para wanita tersebut di rekrut secara paksa
oleh pemerintah Jepang pada perang dunia ke-2 untuk melayani nafsu
para prajurit perang.
Sutradara muda Natasha Dematra selaku salah satu juri dari festival
ini mengatakan “Film ini patut mendapatkan gelar Terbaik dikarenakan
bukan hanya karena temanya yang sangat kaya namun juga film ini di
eksekusi dengan baik dan dapat menginspirasi generasi mendatang.
